The Potomac Chapter has resumed limited volunteer-led, in-person activities with precautions in places. This means we’re out hiking!
Check out the AMC Activities Database (ActDB) (search Potomac Chapter or by state) or the Potomac Chapter Meetup page for upcoming activities. Because of our new COVID precautions (described below), the ActDB is now the primary source for finding upcoming Chapter activities.
All activities are in small groups and employ social distancing measures. Among other things, this means trips are capped at 10 participants (including leaders) and may leaders are keeping trips smaller. Everyone must bring and wear a mask, online advance registration with waiver is required, all participants must follow all local guidance as well as the trip leader’s directions. Before returning to leading trips, all activity leaders must complete a training on COVID safety protocols an procedures.
During registration in our online systems, participants will electronically sign a liability waiver, and provide contact information that allows contact tracing should it become necessary.
AMC and the Chapter are applying careful, evidence-based risk-management practices to chart a path forward for volunteer-led activities to resume and continue safely. We hope that you will be able to get outdoors with us in small groups!
Of course, we understand that there are members who cannot join AMC trips at this time. Don’t worry! There are still opportunities to see friendly faces and remain engaged. AMC volunteers and staff continue to add virtual workshops and programs covering topics including outdoor skills, conservation, and education. Search for BEONLINEWITHAMC in the ActDB and register for an upcoming online event!
