Activities

The Potomac Chapter has resumed volunteer-led, in-person activities with COVID safety precautions in place.

AMC and the Chapter are applying careful, evidence-based risk-management practices to chart a path forward for our volunteer-led activities to resume and continue safely. We hope that you will be able to get outdoors with us in small groups!

For the time being, in-person activities will be offered on a limited basis for small groups and will employ social distancing measures among other precautions. This means trips will be capped at 10 participants (including our volunteer trip leaders) and may be further limited depending on individual trip conditions and details. All participants must bring and wear a mask as well as follow the trip leader’s instructions and all local guidance. Our volunteer trip leaders will undergo specific training on COVID safety protocols and procedures prior to leading your AMC adventure.

Check out the AMC Activities Database (ActDB) or the Potomac Chapter Meetup page for upcoming activities. The ActDB is currently the best place to look for Chapter activities due to the need for advanced online registrations. Participants must register in advance online and submit the required electronic waiver. Your contact information will be used only for emergencies and to conduct contact tracing should it become necessary.

Of course, we understand there are members who cannot join AMC trips at this time. Don’t worry! There are still plenty of opportunities to see friendly faces and stay involved. AMC volunteers and staff continue to add virtual workshops and programs covering topics including outdoor skills, conservation, and education. Search for BEONLINEWITHAMC in the ActDB to register for an upcoming online event! Whether online or in person, we will be glad to see you!

If you’re joining us for a trip and need to make a payment, visit this page for the Chapter Weekend Gathering or this page for the Women’s Early Winter Backpacking Trip.
